Well Rounder Cacher ChallengeWell Rounded Cacher (WRC) ChallengeThe Well Rounded Cacher (WRC) Challenge is set up to require a geocacher to find a cache of every available type (with a few exceptions) and at least one of every difficulty and terrain combination. There are 81 such combinations. The original WRC cache was set up for Fizzy in California. It was brought to North Carolina by Ranger Fox and then to Virginia by altosaxplayer. There may be others around the country or the world, but these are the ones I know about. I first got involved in the WRC challenge when Night-Hawk started working on it. By caching with him, I was able to pick up several of the combinations I didn't have. He found the North Carolina WRC Challenge cache by Ranger Fox on 1/1/2008 as FTF. I was with him at the time. After that, I checked my own stats and found I only needed nine more combinations to complete the challenge myself. My goal was to complete the challenge before my birthday, which was three months away. I worked on the WRC challenge here and there, finding a cache that was one of the nine I needed when I could. I tried to stay as close to home as possible. Rising gas prices made long trips for one or two caches hard to do. Around mid-March, I had found five of the nine. When I checked for caches that met the remaining combination and placed date requirements, I found that all four caches could be found in the Bristol, TN area. I completed this challenge on March 22, 2008. Here is my Difficulty / Terrain Chart of the caches I have found. I found the Well Rounded Cacher Challenge (GC18AWG) on March 22, 2008 and the Well Rounded Cacher Challenge (Fizzy Challenge) (GC15NNY) on March 23, 2008.
